Pastoral Care Services

The Pastoral Care Services Department, located on the first floor of Licking Memorial Hospital (LMH), serves as a liaison between the Hospital and local clergy, and provides spiritual care for LMH patients and extended Licking Memorial Health Systems (LMHS) family members. Pastoral Care Services also provides religious services for patients, visitors, employees and volunteers on holidays and special occasions.

The purpose of the Pastoral Care Services Department is to meet the spiritual needs of patients, families, and staff of LMHS by incorporating the knowledge that a person’s unique spiritual beliefs and cultural practices come to bear on the experience of illness or trauma.

The Department of Pastoral Care assists, in collaboration with others, in identifying, addressing, and meeting the spiritual needs of patients, families, and LMHS staff.  Pastoral Care is responsible for providing comprehensive spiritual care to the diversity of faiths and spiritual backgrounds found at LHMS.  Pastoral Care staff members are available to provide spiritual and emotional support as it relates to medical decision-making, patient rights and medical ethics.  Upon request, the Pastoral Care staff will notify a patient’s minister, priest, or rabbi of the patient’s hospital stay.

The LMHS Pastoral Care Services Department can be reached by calling (740) 348-7729. The department can be reached from LMH patient rooms by simply dialing 7729.
