The gentle movement of a delicate little hand. The wiggle of a tiny little toe. The soft blink of an eye. These first impressions of our babies are forever etched in our minds – and in our hearts.
At Licking Memorial Hospital, we understand the wonder of birth, and we would be honored to share this time of wonder with you. From the earliest weeks of your pregnancy to the birth of your child and beyond, our remarkable staff of obstetrical and neonatal professionals will care for you every step of the way.
Whether you are a first-time parent or having your second, third, or fourth child, we recognize that each birth experience is unique. To help you prepare for the birth of your baby, Licking Memorial Hospital (LMH) offers a variety of childbirth and parenting education classes. We also offer maternity tours so you can see our state-of-the-art facilities, meet members of our physician team and learn more about our maternity services.
We want your birth experience to meet your every need. Our staff will carefully consider your particular hopes and desires while helping you craft a birthing plan consistent with your own individual expectations. We'll work with you to create a family-centered experience while ensuring you receive the highest quality maternity care.
We celebrate each new life with the playing of Brahm's Lullaby overhead throughout the hospital with the birth of each baby. This familiar tune brings smiles of joy to the faces of staff and visitors when they realize a new life has just begun at LMH.
Take a few moments and further explore our maternity services. You'll see why more than 1,000 women have their babies at Licking Memorial Hospital each year.

Breastfeeding Promotion and Support Program
Exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics as optimal nutrition for all babies. This evidence-based education program is designed to:
- Provide women with breastfeeding education and support during pregnancy and following the birth of their baby to assist them in making an informed decision about infant feeding and nutrition
- Provide clinical support, encouragement, and skills training necessary for women to establish effective breastfeeding while in the Hospital and provide continued support and resources to maintain exclusive breastfeeding at home
Expectant mothers should ask their obstetrician or nurse midwife for additional information regarding this program. Prenatal Breastfeeding classes will be offered monthly, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Conference Rooms A & B on the main floor of the Hospital. Registration is required. Patients may register by calling (740) 348-4346.
