Electroencephalographic (EEG) Laboratory

Our Services

Licking Memorial Hospital (LMH) offers the neurodiagnostic services of routine and special EEG (electroencephalographic) recordings for both outpatients and inpatients.  An EEG recording is a painless procedure that gives the physician important information about the health and function of the brain by detecting and recording electrical impulses.  The EEG Laboratory is located on the first floor in the Women's Imaging Center.

We are staffed by trained EEG technologists and perform procedures on children, adolescents and adults.  EEG testing for children under the age of five is done on a case-by-case basis by special arrangement with the neurologist.  Neurologists on the LMH Medical Staff are specially trained in reading EEG reports and interpret these studies.  Tests on adults usually take between 20 and 40 minutes, and in general, there is no special preparation required, but children do require some preparation.  Specific information on preparing for an EEG for either adults or children is available through your physician's office, the EEG Lab or by visiting the Health Information section of this Web site.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Please bring your insurance/medical card and a photo ID (driver's license or government ID, etc.) with you so that we can make a copy for your record, and do leave all other valuables at home.  It is your responsibility to check with your insurance company about any possible deductible amounts or co-payments for which you may be accountable.

Appointments are made by calling Centralized Scheduling at (740) 348-4722.  We can be reached by calling (740) 348-4141.
