Our Mission
The mission of the Emergency Department of Licking Memorial Hospital (LMH) is to provide high-quality, safe and efficient emergency services to all individuals who come to the Emergency Department of LMH.
Our Services
The Emergency Department (ED) of LMH provides our community with comprehensive emergent and urgent care, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is the goal of the ED to assess, stabilize and treat patients quickly and effectively.
Highly skilled, board-certified emergency physicians, as well as nurses, paramedics, technicians, clerks and registrars staff the ED. The professional staff possess credentials in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and many are also certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
When a patient presents to LMH in need of medical attention, a triage nurse will assess him/her and determine the level of urgency based upon chief complaint, medical history, symptoms and other valuable data needed in the decision making process.
More than 50,000 patients visit the LMH ED annually. Of these visits, more than 10,000 are pediatric patients. In order to better serve our community, a pediatrician is available in the ED from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. during the week and 24 hours a day during the weekend.
Clinical and customer service indicators are monitored closely on a daily basis. Our staff is very attentive to providing positive outcomes for patients. Timely service is important to our patients and critical to addressing emergent health issues. Patients coming to our emergency room will be triaged within minutes and then seen by a physician according to the severity of symptoms.
LMH continuously strives to provide safe and timely emergency services. The average time that a patient will spend in the ED until discharge is approximately two hours and 38 minutes. For those patients who need admission into the Hospital, the average time from entering the ED to admission into the Hospital is three hours and 36 minutes. At LMH, we continuously look at ways to reduce the wait time for patients seeking our emergency services.
