Licking Memorial Health Systems offers services designed to meet the unique health needs of women. The Hospital prides itself on offering a full range of women's health services supported by the latest available technology.
As the birthing place for Licking County, Licking Memorial Hospital houses a state-of-the-art maternity center called First Impressions that rivals any in central Ohio. More than 1,000 babies are born each year at our maternity center. Visit the First Impressions Maternity Child section on this Web site for more information, which includes a listing of First Impressions classes. Also, see our most recent Maternity Care Report Card to learn about our quality of care.
Osteoporosis and breast cancer are among the top health care issues facing women today. At Licking Memorial Hospital, we can detect the earliest signs of these diseases through our advanced technology:
Dexa-scanner
In 1999, the Hospital purchased a Dexa-scanner that measures the density of a woman's bones in her spine and hips. This simple exam can detect osteoporosis, or loss of bone mass, at its earliest stages when lifestyle changes and medical assistance can be the most effective.
Mammography
Early detection is the best defense against breast cancer. Licking Memorial Hospital has an accredited mammography suite within the Hospital. For your convenience, a mammography unit also is available at our obstetrics and gynecology practice, Licking Memorial Women’s Health, located at 15 Messimer Drive. If you would like more information on the prevention of breast cancer, contact the American Cancer Society Patient Navigator who has an office located on the fifth floor at Licking Memorial Hospital. The phone number is (740) 348-1996.
