Emergency Department – How do we measure?
Number of Patients in Waiting - Total number of patients who are currently waiting to be placed in a room.
Average Duration of Visit - Average measure of the total length of stay from when a patient signs in at the greeting desk to discharge. Averages are calculated over 4 hour and 24 hour periods.
Average Time to Doctor - Average time from when a patient signs in at the greeting desk to when the patient is seen by a doctor. Averages are calculated over 4 hour and 24 hour periods.
*Patients are seen by highest acuity (severity of sickness) first.
