Gastroenterology is a subspecialty of Internal Medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of digestive tract and liver diseases. Acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, colon polyps, hepatitis and cirrhosis are all examples of illnesses treated. Our practice provides office consultations, hospital care and diagnostic procedures including colonoscopy for the early detection and prevention of colon cancer.

Shakil A. Karim, D.O., received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree at the Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky. He completed an internal medicine internship, an internal medicine residency and a gastroenterology fellowship at Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Olympia Fields, Illinois. His gastroenterology fellowship training included rotations at several Chicago-area hospitals: University of Chicago Hospitals, Northwestern Memorial Medical Center, Cook County Hospital in Chicago, University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago, Loyola University Medical Center in Villa Park, Illinois, and Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He is board certified in the fields of internal medicine and gastroenterology. |

Ghulam Mujtaba, M.D., received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1999 at Nishtar Medical College at Bahauddin Zakariya University in Multan, Pakistan. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York, affiliate of Weill Medical College at Cornell University, New York, New York. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. |

David Subler, M.D., earned his Medical Degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. He also completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University Hospitals of Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Subler is board certified as a Diplomate with the National Board of Medical Examiners, and the American Board of Internal Medicine, subspecialty of gastroenterology. |
