How to Update Cisco AnyConnect Mobility Client
These instructions will walk you through the process of updating your Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client that is used to connect back to the Licking Memorial Hospital network.
We are updating the client due to requirements to upgrade the security on our VPN Equipment.
First let’s go ahead and get the client downloaded to your computers, then we’ll uninstall the old client and run the downloaded installer.
Right click HERE
with your mouse to pop-up a text window and click on the text Save link as…
A window will open with the text Save As at the top. We want to save the file in our Local Disk (C:) drive, left click on this option with your mouse and then the Save button at the bottom.
Now that we have the file download and on your computer, let’s being the next step in the process.
Uninstall old client
Let’s start by getting to the Uninstall a program window. There are two ways we’ll cover just in case the menus on your computer are setup differently than the examples shown.
Option 1:
Click on you Start button in the lower left corner of Windows and you should see a box you can type in with the words “Search programs and files”. Type the words control panel in this box and hit Enter on your keyboard.
Option 2:
Click on you Start button in the lower left corner of Windows and you should see text on the right side of your menu that says Control Panel. Click on these words with your left mouse button to get into the Control Panel
So in this Uninstall a program window, we are looking for the text that says
Cisco AnyConnect Mobility Client.
You’ll want to click on this text and then click the Uninstall text at the top of the window. You can see an example of the screen below.
A New window pops up asking
"Are you sure you want to uninstall…"
click the Yes button at the bottom of the Window.
You will see a
"Windows Installer"
window that will show changing text and a progress bar, it will disappear when completed and the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client will disappear from the Uninstall or change a program window.
Install the New Client
The client was saved under the C: drive folder through the download instructions at the beginning of this document, so we need to locate that file and click on it to begin the install.
You can click the Start button and type
C:
in the
Search Programs and Files
box and then hit Enter on your keyboard to bring up the C: folder.
You can also click on your
Start
button, find
Computer
listed in the menu and click on the text with your mouse.
The My Computer Window will open and then you will select your
C: drive
. It could have a different name like,
"Windows"
or
"Local Disk"
, but they should all show
C:
in the text. Click on this with your mouse to get into your C: folder.
You should see the file named "anyconnect-win-4.3.02039" in the window, click it twice with your mouse to begin the install.
If you receive a Security Warning, go ahead and click the Run button to continue the install.
You will see the
Welcome to Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Setup Wizard
window next, go ahead and click Next to continue the install.
Click the
"I accept the terms..."
radio button and then the Next button at the bottom to continue the install. Click the
"Install"
button on the next window to continue the install.
The installation will begin and you will see the
"Installing Cisco AnyConnect..."
window going through the install process and provide a progress bar at the bottom.
You will then be presented with the
"Completing the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Setup Wizard"
window; click Finish to complete the installation.
Launching the New Client
When attempting to launch the updated VPN client through the Internet Explorer shortcut on your desktop or by browsing to
https://access.lmhealth.org
, it may try to get you to install the older version of the client again. To launch the VPN Client until we get all users migrated, you can launch the VPN client from your Start Menu.
You can add a shortcut to your desktop by clicking on your Start Menu and typing the word cisco into the
"Search programs and files"
box, which will show the program in the Start Menu. Use your right mouse button and click on the program text, move your mouse over the words Send to and then click on
“Desktop (create shortcut)"
.
If you have any issues with this install or would like the Information Systems Department to perform the install for you, please contact us at 1(220)564-4357 and we can assist you remotely through our Bomgar Support Client.
