Community Education: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Community Education: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, also known as COPD, refers to a group of conditions that obstruct air flow and cause breathing difficulties.  COPD includes emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and in some cases, asthma.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, almost 15.7 million Americans report a diagnosis of COPD.  Additionally, more than 50 percent of people with poor lung function may also have undiagnosed COPD.  Early detection and treatment can often alter the course and progression of this potentially debilitating disease.

Join Registered Respiratory Therapist Kenneth Justice, R.R.T., RRT-NPS, RRT-ACCS, AE-C, for an informative discussion on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of COPD on Tuesday, April 12, at 6:00 p.m., in the Licking Memorial Hospital First Floor Conference Rooms.  A full meal will be provided for all participants.  The program is free; however, registration is required.  To register, please call (220) 564-1560.
