Community Education: Dining with Diabetes

Making smart meal choices is an important part of diabetes management, but healthy eating can be challenging.  Dining with Diabetes is a four-part cooking school program for individuals with diabetes and their families that offers healthy alternatives in food preparation.  The program will include healthy meal demonstrations, taste-testing, and discussions about carbohydrates, fats, sodium, vitamins, minerals and fiber.  In addition, a three-course meal will be served at each session.  Classes will be held on Tuesdays, February 5, 12, 19 and 26, at 5:30 p.m., in the Licking Memorial Hospital First Floor Conference Rooms.

Dining with Diabetes is presented by Licking Memorial Health Systems in partnership with The Ohio State University Extension and the Licking County Senior Levy.  Registered Dietician Annmarie Thacker, M.S., R.D., L.D., C.D.E., and Shari L. Gallup, M.S., CHWC, will instruct the class.

Advanced registration is required to attend the four-part program.  Please call (740) 670-5315 to register.  The cost, which is due at the time of registration, is $10 for senior citizens (age 60 and over) and $20 for all other participants.  Space is limited – please register by Monday, January 28.
