LMHS Honors Pat Jeffries with Lifetime Achievement Award

Licking Memorial Health Systems (LMHS) is pleased to announce that Patrick Jeffries of Newark is the recipient of the Health Systems’ prestigious 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award. Pat, who retired from State Farm as Manager of Learning and Development in 2003, was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the Licking County community.

“Pat's dedication and vision have positively affected the lives of Licking County residents, and we are proud to honor him with the Lifetime Achievement Award,” stated Rob Montagnese, LMHS President & CEO. “In his position as Manager of Learning and Development with State Farm, Pat was responsible for training thousands of associates, all of whom have benefited greatly from his encouragement and extensive knowledge. Even in retirement, Pat continues to support Licking County residents as a leadership consultant, and has truly contributed to the success of the community through his ability to inspire others to perform at the highest level.”

Pat was born in Newark, Ohio, and attended Newark High School. He later attended The Ohio State University, and graduated with a degree in Finance. Pat went on to earn his Masters of Business Administration degree from Xavier University, where he graduated first in his class.

Upon graduation, Pat accepted a position with State Farm as a Claims Representative, allowing him to work closely with individual clients. He later joined the Human Resources Department as Personnel Director, and finished his career as Manager of Learning and Development. Pat considers education to be the cornerstone of his personal mission, which he describes as “the facilitation of the learning process for people striving for excellence on the job and in everyday life.” In all of his positions with State Farm, Pat enjoyed the opportunity to pursue that goal by engaging with a variety of people.

Pat and his wife, Linda, have three children, Corey, Mikal, and Jennifer, as well as five grandchildren, Ethan, Cole, Ollie, Sophia, and Jake. In 2003, Pat retired from State Farm after 38 years of service. Following his retirement, he served as the Interim Dean of Arts, Sciences, and Integrated Studies at Central Ohio Technical College. In addition to his extensive involvement in the community, Pat’s hobbies include golf, racquetball, and reading.

Pat is incredibly appreciative of the opportunity to have worked with a community-minded organization such as State Farm. “I was very fortunate to work with Cal Roebuck (1999 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient) and Norm Sleight (1994 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient), both of whom valued community service and encouraged my active engagement in a variety of local organizations,” he noted. “I am also grateful for the constant support of my wife and children, who have always impressed me with their own passion for helping others. Linda has volunteered extensively with the Hospital, and my children have demonstrated their commitment to community service as well.”

Retirement has not quelled Pat’s active involvement in the community, as he continues to work toward enhancing community residents’ quality of life. In addition to emceeing numerous local events, some of his current activities include:

Pat sees his involvement with LMHS as an excellent way to utilize the motivational and leadership skills that he developed with State Farm, and is grateful for the opportunity to continue working directly with community members.

In addition to the Lifetime Achievement Award, Pat has received numerous other awards, including the John W. Alford Memorial Award given by the Ohio Cancer Research Association, the BRAVO award for Community Service given by the Newark Rotary Club, the 2014 Rotarian of the Year Award given by the Newark Rotary Club, the Alumni Citizenship Award given by Newark City Schools, the Outstanding Young Man in Licking County Award, the Distinguished Service award for Licking County, and the National Recognition Award given by the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter Society. “Pat has certainly earned the respect of his peers,” Rob noted. “He continues to dedicate himself to a wide variety of community organizations, whose projects benefit greatly from his earnest leadership and encouragement.”
