Licking Memorial Hospital offers inpatient hemodialysis services, provided by DaVita Dialysis, one of the largest dialysis providers in the United States. DaVita focuses on regulatory compliance and best practices, which is consistent with our Licking Memorial Hospital (LMH) mission and commitment to patient safety. DaVita provides 24-hour, daily coverage for inpatient services. LMH has a diverse dialysis team of nephrologists, DaVita nurses and LMH nurses, dietitians, social workers and case management staff to provide patients with the medical care, education and support they need.
Hemodialysis removes extra fluids, chemicals and waste from your body by filtering the blood through a specialized dialysis machine. Most patients have an "access" implanted in the arm or chest. However, temporary access lines also can be placed to allow for hemodialysis treatment. Our DaVita nurses are familiar with the use and care of both implanted access devices and temporary access devices.
Peritoneal Dialysis
Peritoneal dialysis uses the lining of the abdominal cavity to clean waste from the blood. The most common form of peritoneal dialysis is called Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis. Again, our DaVita nurses and LMH nurses are familiar with this type of dialysis and are able to provide this service to any patient requiring treatment.
