Pathology services offered:

Clinical pathology
Clinical Pathology is a branch of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis of disease through laboratory testing of body fluids and tissues.  It involves analyzing samples such as blood, urine, and other bodily fluids to detect infections, metabolic disorders, cancers, and other medical conditions.  Clinical pathologists oversee laboratory testing in areas such as hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, immunology, and blood banking to help physicians understand a patient’s condition and determine appropriate treatment.  These services are primarily provided at the central hospital laboratory, with limited testing available at some physician offices and at the bedside through point-of-care testing.

Anatomic pathology
Includes full-service pathology and cytopathology.  Specimens are processed on-site and are interpreted by our pathologists.  Results are usually available within two working days.  In addition, an extensive selection of immunohistochemical staining and special stains are performed in our histology laboratory and interpreted by our pathologists.  Cytopathology (the study of disease at the cellular level) specimens are also prepared and interpreted on-site; however, turnaround time depends on specimen type.  Breast prognostic indicator testing is available via virtual pathology, where the stains are performed at our reference laboratory and the virtual images are interpreted on-site by our pathologists.
